I forgot to mention about the hyperlinks on my webpage and html project. When using FrontPage I was able to create the links by clicking on the photo and linking them to the appropriate page. The external links were just a matter of typing in the link name and saving it and then viewing in browser. Creating the links in Weebly, I basically did the same as in FrontPage, click on the picture, insert hyperlink and it would bring the list of pages you had created. You would click on the page and click OK. Everything you wanted to save something in Weebly you had click Publish, and that would save your changes.

Final Blog

Reflecting on what I have learned in class: Using PhotoShop was a new experience for me. I realize now all the different neat things you can with that program. Things you see everyday using the internet and viewing photos that friends or family have created will definitely be appreciated differently. One thing I will walk away with is being able to understand people when they talk about websites. How they created them, what needed to be considered when they planned their website. I certainly do have a better comfort level in these conversations.

Compare/contrast the 2 websites. The two sites look basically the same. The same photos, the same text, same format. I created my webpage first. It was easier than I expected it to be. The weebly website provided all the formats for you, all you needed to do was click and drag. The tables were very easy to work with, you didn't have to create them, it was just a click and drag. You created your pages either by copying the finished page or creating a blank one and naming it. That easy. The navigation was created by the pages you named and designed. My website was not a difficult one, it was on a personal level so I didn't use the forms, or have to include many details for navigation.
Using the html to create a website was a little trickier. You chose a format, but then you have to create your home page with a home button and then save it to the desktop. I did not have to do this with my weebly website. You had to work more with the tables in html. Posting pictures were basically the same for both websites.
My final projects were what I had designed. I decided to stick to a simple clean website and it worked for me.

Website Assignment

The title of my website is; Meemaw's Fountain of Youth. I have created a website on www.weebly.com. You can log on to www.meemawsfountainofyouth.weebly.com to preview what I have done. I have completed it and published it. The information that I am communicating via my website are the joys of being a grandmother. My target audience will be grandmothers as well as grandmothers to be. My website has four pages. My home page is called My Fountain of Youth, my second page is Nathaniel and Joshua, the third page is Jillian and Christopher and my fourth page is called Meemaw's Photo Album. I have four links within the site by clicking on the pictures of my grandchildren. Those links will take you to the page with their story. I also have three external links that go to; www.strasburgrailroad.com, www.readingpublicmuseum.org and to www.caringbridge.org/visit/joshuafronheiser. The pictures I used for my website were from my own personal pictures. To crop my pictures I used PhotoShop. I saved them for the web with hopes that they would fit and they did. The color scheme of my website is a light blue with a theme of clouds and nature. Since I do not have a HTML editor at home I will be using FrontPage in class.

This week's reading

This weeks the chapter covered a lot of topics to remember when designing your web page. Some of the topics were using tables, how to enhance your photos, how to slice a graphic. Slicing your graphics helps when you want to use animation with your web page and create a look of continuity when you have a page of text and graphics. The rollover and image swaps and flash animation seem to be tools you can use when you are creating a more sophisticated web page. The review of HTML was good for me. This information will help with spacing for the navigation bar of my web page by adding spacing around graphics that I intend to include. It also reviews how to add code for different changes you might want to add as your site is progressing such as changing the font, font color or spacing. Dog-eared this section.

What is the purpose of using storyboards?
Creating a storyboard is a great visual. A storyboard is like project management. You come up with an idea, put it on paper and start the process. As you work through the different phases of your storyboard you will need to organize your information, plan how you intend on creating your pages, and you might see how things need to change from the original plan or thought process. By having the storyboard it continues to help keep you on track and find different ways to achieve your final product.
